Esther

Esther is a very kind and gentle 13-year-old girl who loves spending time with her friends and family and helping others. Esther has Cerebral Palsy which impacts her movement and ability to complete some activities independently.

Esther has benefited from specialist equipment and physiotherapy with Family First Ghana for several years and has made great progress. However, until recently, Esther still relied on her mother to carry her on her back as their home was not accessible for a wheelchair user and as Esther grew older, she was at increased risk of becoming housebound. We took on a large project to make Esther’s home accessible, cementing wheelchair ramps and pathways from their family home to the roadside and their outdoor washroom and fitting accessible bars which Esther can use to pull herself to stand and transition into her wheelchair. We believe this will make a massive impact for Esther and her family, increasing Esther’s independence and ensuring she can continue to access meaningful activities in her community, such as going to school and church.

Esther attends Agape Love Inclusive School. Esther loves to learn; she takes her studies very seriously and she loves teaching other students or helping them out. Since starting school in 2019, Esther has shown lots of progress in maths, communication skills, fine motor skills, activities of daily living, and more!
